At Bellissima…It's Tasting Times Ahead.

Kabab Its anniversary time and the Doshi family (Chakor, Champa, Chirag and Kanika) are celebrating. The three restaurants of the family- Karma, Liquid Lounge and Bellissima opened up a year ago. On this occasion, Bellissima offers a "TASTING MENU" - a unique dining concept where cuisine is presented in many small tasting portions that tickle your taste buds many times over.

Bellissima is a restaurant, which offers new world cuisine in an ambience, which is chic and minimalist with Italian marble flooring, contrasted with colours like white, beige and brown. Comfortable unholstered chairs, beautiful pictures embedded within glass wall panels, and specially designed tableware all add to the international dining experience. The high ceilings also lend a look of elegance and class. Fresh carnations and orchids and purple candles at each table create a soft, inviting mood, while the music sets you up for an unforgettable experience.

The Tasting Menu.

Popular in many international restaurants like Charlie Tarotters in Chicago and Jean Georges in New York, this experience comes to you for the first time, as Bellissima starts the TASTERS FESTIVAL on Friday June 28, 2002.

A typical tasting menu may consist of starters, soups, main courses and desserts interspersed with sorbets. For example a typically vegetarian menu may include Mushroom Tortellini with Asian Chilly Garlic Sauce, Jalapeno and Cheddar Cheese Pouches with Onion Marmalade, Fresh Boccocinni, Ripe Tomato with Caper Vinaigrette, Warm Chilly Dusted Brie with Apricot Salsa and Roasted Garlic Pearl…. Cream of Mushroom Soup, Fresh Tomato, Mushroom and Basil Bruschetta, Caesar Salad and Crispies…Spinach, Ricotta and Sage Quenelles with Mediterranean inspired Spicy Tomato and Okra, Warm Tossed Shitake, Artichoke, Asparagus and Waterchest salad with Balsamic Reduction, Grape Risotto and Penne Arrabbiata Platter…and for desserts Chocolate Suicide with Vanilla Cream and Chocolate Ganache, Tiramisu with Bailey's Cream Salsa, Fruity Mascarpone Mousse in White Wine Tuile, Apple Pie with Red Wine Caramel topped with Blueberry Ice-cream followed by Limoncello, Coffee and Chocolates.

The Non Vegetarian menu may include Garlic Prawns with Lemon Mustard Emulsion, Smoked Chicken Pouches with Onion marmalade, Curled Pomfert and Prawn Roulade on skewer, Stringed Rosemary Lamb with Tuscan Chicken Liver…Cream of Mushroom Soup, Shrimp Fresh Tomato and Basil Bruchetta, Caesar Salad and crispies…Sliced Crispy Chicken on a bed of Phad Thai, Lemon Cilantro Steak with Grilled Vegetables and Parmesan Pesto, Lobster Risotto and Penne Arrabbiata Platter.. .. and for desserts Chocolate Suicide with Vanilla Cream and Chocolate Ganache, Tiramisu with Bailey's Cream Salsa, Fruity Mascarpone Mousse is White Wine Tuile, Apple Pie with Red Wine Caramel topped with Blueberry ice-cream… Sorbets between salad and main course are offered.

The menu is available only for dinner and priced at Rs. 650/- for vegetarian and Rs. 750 for non-vegetarian. Tips/service charge included but taxes are extra. An A LA CARTE menu is also available.

With a fresh, new Tasting Menu available regularly, the dining experience promises to be a gourmet treat for all those who relish simple yet exotic culinary combinations.

About Chef Saby

Chef Sabyasachi Gorai (popularly called SABY), has been instrumental in creating and planning the Tasting Menu. Having trained extensively and undergone many specialized classes, both in India and abroad, (World Gourmet Summit attended by top 12 chefs held in Singapore) Chef Saby has magical fingers and his knowledge in styles of cooking, ingredients, familiarity in international cuisine all helps him to cook up a meal, that force guests to ask for more. He has worked with the Mahindra Group and the Bowling Co. and has been involved in several launches.

According to Chef Saby, I can cook anything as long as I know my guest in going to enjoy it. That is my motivation and it never flags even for a moment. My cooking is all about honesty- no fuss, no frills. It's not about any superlative technique or secret recipes; there are no tantrums in my kitchens. It's more about care for the food ingredients and attention to detail."
